The City of Carmel, in partnership with Greater Indiana Clean Cities, Hoosier Electric Vehicle Association, Carmel Green Initiative, AAA, Solar United Neighbors and Knozone is excited to announce an EV Ride and Drive on Saturday, October 1, as part of the National Drive Electric Week which is presented by Plug In America, Electric Vehicle Association, Sierra Club and EVHybridNoire.
This event will take place at the Indiana Design Center parking lot, 200 South Range Line Road, from 4-7 p.m., just prior to Late Night on Main in the Carmel Arts & Design District. Attendees will have the opportunity to test drive Electric Vehicles (EVs) and e-bikes, speak with EV owners and find out other important information regarding owning and charging EVs in Carmel and Central Indiana.
EV Ride and Drive events give the public the chance to test out new electric vehicles from a wide variety of manufacturers and talk to current owners of EV’s. This year, there will be vehicles from BMW, Mini, VW, Audi, Nissan, Volvo and Mercedes Benz to test drive and Motor Drive will be bringing a Kia EV6. Additionally, this year we’ve added e-bikes to the event so Future-Velo and Pedego of Carmel will have bikes displayed and available for test rides. In addition to learning how to charge and where to charge EVs, you can also learn ways they improve air quality and reduce CO2 emissions, how to charge them with solar power, how much fun they are to drive and how owning an EV can save you money in the long run.
“With more than 50+ EV chargers in the City of Carmel including a Tesla Supercharger Station, a soon to be built Electrify America station and 15+ EV chargers in the new Civic Square garage, Carmel is a leader in the electric vehicles space and makes owning an EV that much easier,” said Mayor Jim Brainard.
